Boulder IDEAS Competition
In a ceremony held during its Jan. 29th City Council Study Session, the City of Boulder announced winners for its Civic Area Ideas Competition. Of the reported forty plus entries submitted from around the country, “Civic Art” won for the category of Best Civic Facilities and Functions. The “Civic Art” team was comprised of ion community solutions assisted by students of the College of Architecture and Planning - Denver and the ENVD Program - Boulder. ion, a non-profit technical resource center Co-Directed by Allen Harlow and Ray Kramer, incorporated the work of Patricia Kasch, Michael Blea, Wesley Allingham and Tom Magnuson into the winning entry.
Boulder Center for the Performing Arts
Boulder Center for the Performing Arts is a non-profit seeking to build a Concert Hall facility in the City of Boulder’s Civic Area. Once built, the facility will include a thousand person state of the art multipurpose performing arts venue. ion has provided preliminary concepts for the BCPA as an anchor to the Civic Center Area.
Pueblo Historic East Side Initiative
Located
in Pueblo, the East Side Neighborhood Initiative is responsive to community
efforts for reinvestment in this largely Hispanic core neighborhood. The
Strategic Plan has provided the City of Pueblo and the neighborhood with a
series of recommendations that include broader housing choices, enhanced civic
opportunities, improved neighborhood services, additional recreational
activities and access to healthier food choices.

“Here We Grow” is the creation of Celebrity Chef, Craig King. The well received documentary is a chronicle of food deserts and the impacts upon America’s under-served neighborhoods. An outgrowth of the film is Mr. King’s vision for food pantries in the core of communities to be located in all regions of the United States. The vision for the “Here We Growcery” incorporates the tenets of sustainable agriculture – “Farm to Fork” – balanced with healthy eating and active living and food access principles.
Boulder Emergency Family Assistance Association: Lot 12 Transitional Housing
Located in North Boulder directly across 16th St. from EFAA’s Hayman Center, the Lot 12 four-plex supplements the organization’s stock of transitional units in the community.

HARP Vision Plan
The Urban Land Conservancy (ULC), in partnership with The Denver Foundation/Strengthening Neighborhoods, the City of Denver’s Office of Economic Development and the Holly Area Redevelopment Project ( HARP) Steering Committee prepared a Vision Plan to help guide reinvestment in this area. The HARP includes a six-block area including and surrounding the former Holly Square Shopping Center located between 33rd and 35th Avenues and Hudson and Holly Streets. This work placed a focus on viable and sustainable solutions built upon the community’s Good Neighbor Policies.

HARP Master Plan
Building upon the success of the HARP Vision Plan, a strategic master plan was prepared to further define and refine reinvestment opportunities in the area. One outcome is the recent funding by the Anschutz Family Foundation of the Nancy P. Anschutz Community Center and Jack Vickers Boys & Girls Club.

Salina Residence
Members of ion's core staff donated their services to one of the residents of Salina, CO. who lost her home in the Four Mile Canyon fire.
